The Project
Where?
We carried works out on the M42 Northbound carriageway between Junctions 1- Alvechurch and Junction 2 – Hopwood Park Services.
When?
Works commenced on 23 April for two weeks during nightime lane closures.
What were we doing?
We resurfaced lane 1 of the northbound carriageway over a distance of approximately 0.8 km.
Why did we need to do this work?
The carriageway had reached the end of its useful life and could no longer be repaired economically by patching works. The works removed the need for potholing or patching works and has provided a safe surface for road users.
Traffic Management
Works were carried out by use of nightime lane closures for the safety of both road users and road workers but left lane 3 available for traffic during the works with a 50mph speed limit. When working near the offslip road at Junction 2 it was necessary to close the slip road and traffic was be diverted via Junction 3.
