Public Consultation
Public Consultation
The official public consultation period was from the 28th January 2003 to 12th May 2003, with an exhibition held from the 14th and 15th February 2003. The total attendance at the exhibition was in excess of 700.
The leaflet and questionnaire were delivered to approximately 4500 residential properties within the immediate vicinity of the scheme on the 28 January 2003. The leaflet was delivered to areas that were likely to be affected by the proposals, i.e. those in close proximity to the scheme.
Copies of the leaflet and questionnaire were also deposited at local council offices, shops and libraries.
The HA received 600 questionnaires back throughout this period, 283 questionnaires were received prior to the exhibition and 317 after.
The exhibition provided an opportunity for the public to ask questions and express their views, and also for the HA and WSP to explain the details of the proposals.
The two schemes promoted by the HA at public consultation were the Red Route (on-line) and the Blue Route (off-line). These were the only two of the five options considered at this stage with positive economic benefits. Although the other schemes were presented at the exhibition for the public to view their comments, the schemes that the HA were promoting were the Red and Blue routes.
