The Project
In June and July 2007 work was carried out to re-paint parts of the bridge which carries the B6019 over the A38 trunk road near Pinxton, just west of junction 28 of the M1 motorway in Derbyshire.
The bridge includes structural steel beams and it is necessary that they be re-painted periodically to ensure the continued protection of the steelwork from the elements. This was the first time that the steelwork to the bridge has been painted since it opened in 1969.
To minimise disruption to road-users, all the works were carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am when traffic levels are lowest.
