Benefits and Impacts

New Junction at Nottingham Trent University

  • Would improve accessibility to NTU by allowing vehicles to turn right into the campus
  • Would reduce congestion at Green Lane Junction caused by 'U-turners'
  • Would slightly increase congestion due to signals
  • We would need to acquire more land

New Link Road at Mill Hill

  • Would improve accessibility to and from the
    A453
  • Would remove traffic from Barton Lane
  • Would allow access to the proposed NET 'Park & Ride' site with minimal future disruption to A453
  • We would need to acquire more land
  • Would increase farm severance

The Off-Line Route Between Barton and Clifton

  • Would provide a better access to Fox Covert Lane
  • Would avoid the need for a long deep cutting through Brands Hill
  • Would reduce the amount of surplus excavated material
  • Would be easier to build
  • Would reduce disruption during construction
  • Would allow for a future connection to the NET Park and Ride scheme
  • Would enable us to use the existing A453 carriageway to improve accessibility for local communities and non-motorised users
  • We would need to acquire more farmland
  • Would increase farm severance
  • Would increase light pollution at the edge of Clifton
  • Would introduce a new junction close to the edge of Clifton

Barton - Gotham Underpass

  • Would be more in keeping with local traffic needs
  • Removal of the junction would reduce the impact on the local environment
  • Would provide non-motorised users crossing via new underpass
  • We would need to acquire less land
  • Would eliminate 'rat-running' through Barton in Fabis
  • No direct access to and from the new A453
  • Would increase farm severance

West Leake Junction

  • Would improve layout of split-level junction
  • Would mean greater loss of mature trees
  • We would need to acquire more land

Ratcliffe on Soar (Parkway) Junction

  • Would provide better access to the Power Station via a new roundabout
  • We would need to acquire more land
