Traffic Management and Diversion Routes
Traffic Management & Diversion Routes
There will be signed diversion routes for northbound and southbound traffic which would normally follow the A12 through the town centre. There will also be signed diversion routes for local traffic on the north and south sides of Lake Lothing. The diversion routes are identified on the map below.
Drivers should note that the following restrictions will be in place during the bridge closures:
• Prospect Road Railway Bridge closed to all traffic
• No left turn southbound at junction of Gorleston Road and Normanston Drive
• No right turn southbound at junction of Higher Drive and Normanston Drive
A free recovery service for breakdowns will operate to keep the diversion routes clear.
Temporary parking and 'No Waiting' restrictions will be in place to reduce congestion along the diversion routes.
Extra police will be on duty to enforce the temporary traffic restrictions.
Network Rail Works
There will be no rail services between Norwich and Lowestoft on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October 2007 due to track renewal works.
On Saturday 27 October a replacement bus service will run between Norwich and Lowestoft railway stations.
On Sunday 28 October a replacement bus service will run between Norwich and Beccles railway stations. Passengers can use the Ipswich to Lowestoft service from Beccles railway station for travel to and from Lowestoft.
Broads Authority – Notice to Mariners
During the Bascule Bridge closures access for river traffic through Mutford Lock road bridge will be restricted so that interruptions to road traffic are kept to a minimum.On Sunday 21 October, the Broads Authority will co-ordinate the opening of Mutford Lock road bridge with the level crossing closures at Oulton Broad North.
Due to Network Rail works on Sunday 28 October, there will be no trains running through the Oulton Broad North level crossing and the Broads Authority will open Mutford Lock at 1.30pm and 5pm for river traffic. There will be no access through Mutford Lock road bridge for river traffic at any other times during the Bascule Bridge closures.
Associated British Ports - Notice to Mariners
During the Bascule Bridge closures access for shipping through the Bascule Bridge will only be available for 90 minutes before high tide.
