The Project

This scheme was the third of three schemes to renew and upgrade the lighting at the M56 / M6 Junction, Lymm Interchange.

The existing lighting system was old and unreliable and needed a lot of routine maintenance to keep it working, so we have replaced the street lamps with the latest equipment. We also protected the lighting columns by installing "passively safe" columns, which minimise the damage to vehicles if hit.

Preliminary and survey work started on the 22nd October 2007, with the main work starting on the 29th October 2007.

The project was completed, ahead of schedule on 18th March 2008.
