The Project
This is a small safety scheme on the A1, which will include the installation of new central hatching, centre lines, edge lines, road studs, warning and direction signs. It is aimed at raising the profile of junctions, gaps and associated hazards on both the north and southbound A1 between Shire Bridge (on the Nottinghamshire border) and Long Bennington, in Lincolnshire. For further safety reasons we are also adding driver reactive chevron signs at the bend on the B6326 prior to A1 southbound sliproad.
The work will start on 22nd October 2007 until 18th November 2007. All work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am during which both carriageways and sliproads at B6326 and Doddington Lane with A1 southbound and Fen Lane exit from A1 northbound will, from time to time, be closed.
Traffic Management
Please note that this information is not updated in real time. Please check Traffic England for the latest information and current traffic conditions.
There will be a 40mph speed limit from the B6236 Great North Road overbridge at Balderton to Valley lane overbridge at Long Bennington and, when required, a 10mph speed limit for convoy working from the B6326 overbridge to Valley Lane overbridge. There will also be gap closures preventing right turn movements from the A1 northbound to the B6326 with all vehicles diverted via the northbound A1 to Balderton off sliproad.
We apologise for any delay or disruption you may experience while we carry out these essential safety works.
Please allow extra time for your journey and follow all the diversion signs where applicable.
