The Project
From Monday 1st October, we will be carrying out resurfacing and other associated work to sections of the A45 between the M45 Thurlaston Island and B4455 Memorial Island at the Fosse Way.
The majority of the resurfacing will take place on the westbound carriageway with further work on the eastbound carriageway at Thurlaston and on the Thurlaston and Memorial islands themselves. We will also be removing a number of roadside trees from the centre reservation and verge at Thurlaston for safety reasons. New trees will be planted. We expect the work will take approximately ten weeks to complete.
The first part of the work will be carried out during off-peak night-time carriageway closures between 20.00hrs and 06.00hrs for a period of approximately three weeks. This will involve the A45 westbound carriageway from Blue Boar to the Fosse Way, the A45 eastbound at Thurlaston and the Thurlaston and Memorial islands.
The second and main part of the work is to resurface the whole of the A45 westbound carriageway between M45 Thurlaston Island and A4071 Blue Boar. This work will be carried out during daylight hours only for approximately six weeks. During this period all traffic will run two-way on the eastbound carriageway.
Whilst the works are in progress, access will be maintained to all residential and business properties bordering the A45 within the works area, using an escort system.
During overnight work periods, it will be necessary to close some sections of the A45 and some connecting side roads, however all overnight closures will be reopened during daytime.
Traffic Management
Advanced notification will be given of all road closures and diversion routes will be fully signed.
