The Project
This is a small safety scheme which includes new traffic signs, resurfacing the south west approach to the Wilford Lane mini roundabout at Clifton, Nottingham. Also includes realigning the existing kerb lines, providing High Friction Surfacing and rumble strips, changing the B679 Clifton Lane south-westbound lane 1 from left turn only to a shard left turn/straight-ahead lane.
It is hoped these measures will reduce accidents associated with turning conflicts and skidding in the wet at the mini roundabout as well as reducing congestion on the A453 south-westbound carriageway.
Traffic Management
Work is due to start on 12 November 2007 and be completed in December 2007. All work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6 am. During the works it will be necessary to have lane closures on the A453/B679 north and southbound at various times. It will also be necessary to have contraflow on the A453/B679 north east bound carriageway. This will affect south west bound traffic opposite Wilford Lane at some stage. Temporary traffic signs will be in place.
Traffic heading for the A52 SB on slip travelling on the A453 NE bound carriageway will be diverted at the A453 Silverdale Roundabout on the A52 NB carriageway to the A453/A52 Queens Drive roundabout. At Queens Drive roundabout diverted traffic will be able to join the A52 SB carriageway.
Traffic for the A52 SB on slip travelling on the A453 SW bound carriageway will be diverted to continue on the A453 to the Silverdale roundabout where they will join the same diversion route as NE bound traffic.
We apologise for any delay or disruption you may experience while we carry out these essential safety works.
Please allow extra time for your journey and follow all the diversion signs where applicable.
