UPDATE

We will be implementing essential closures to the west and east sides of the M4 junction 6 Chalvey roundabout. This will commence on the 12 September and continue through to 21 September, weather conditions permitting.

The work will involve the demolition of the existing deck edge to prepare for the new structure, which includes a new hard shoulder to this section of the M4.

It will be necessary to close the roundabout beneath the Chalvey east and west bridges between 2200hrs and 0500hrs during the dates below, as it is not possible for the works to be undertaken on a live carriageway.

East bridge roundabout north side closure dates (overnight only between 2200hrs and 0500hrs)
  • 12th - 14th September
West bridge roundabout south side closure dates (overnight only between 2200hrs and 0500hrs)
  • 15th - 18th September
West bridge roundabout north side closure dates (overnight only between 2200hrs and 0500hrs)
  • 19th - 21st September

Fully signed diversions will be in place during these times.

Once complete, the scheme will ensure the bridges comply with current safety standards, are protected from corrosion, and are maintained to a safe and serviceable condition for the next 25 years.

Diversion Routes

M4 westbound traffic wishing to exit north towards Slough at Junction 6:

Traffic will travel past Junction 6 and continue along the M4 to Junction 7, before being redirected onto the eastbound carriageway at Junction 7, allowing them to return back to and exit north towards Slough at Junction 6.

A355 northbound traffic wishing to join the M4:

All northbound traffic approaching the M4 Junction 6 will be diverted onto the A332, before travelling north at the roundabout onto Windsor Road.  Traffic will then be directed west along the A4 to the junction with Tuns Lane (A335), before then going southbound along Tuns Lane (A335) to rejoin the M4 at Junction 6.
