The Project
This is a safety scheme which includes resurfacing both lanes on the A1 southbound carriageway south of Cringle Brook, Great Ponton. Works include drainage and reinstatement of road markings and road studs. The scheme will be split into two phases:
- Phase 1 - Four nights of road closure from Monday 3rd December to Friday 7th December (8 am to 6 pm). There willl be a 50 mph speed restriction during the daytime.
- Phase 2 - Land closures for works within the verge and central reserve between 8 pm and 6 am on the nights of Saturday 8th December to Thursday 13th December and Saturday 15th to Tuesday 18th December.
Traffic Management
A diversion route will be in place for traffic heading A1 southbound at its junction with the A607. Traffic will be diverted westbound along the A607 and then southbound along the A606 to its junction with the A1.
For traffic heading A1 southbound (from A607), traffic will be diverted westbound along the A607 and then southbound along the A606 to its junction with the A1.
Traffic heading A1 southbound from the A52 east of the A15 will be diverted southbound along the A15 to its junction with the A47 and then west to its junction with the A1.
Traffic heading A1 southbound from the A15 north of its junction with the A52 will be diverted southbound along the A15 to its junction with the A47 and then west to its junction with the A1.
Traffic heading A1 southbound from the B6403 north of its junction with the A52 will be diverted eastbound along the A52 southbound along the A15 to its junction with the A47 and then west to its junction with the A1.
