The Project

Where

The scheme is located on the A46 either side of the A435 Roundabout at Teddington Hands

When

The works commenced on 25 February 2008 and last for approximately 20 weeks.

What are we doing ?

The works involve planing out of the existing surface material and replacing this with new, including a quieter surfacing layer. The existing drainage south of the roundabout will be replaced to help remove the surface water and a sub-surface drainage system constructed to reduce damage to the carriageway structure.

As part of the works the opportunity will be taken to improve the advance signing to the roundabout.

Why do we need to do this work?

The existing carriageway is showing signs of deterioration through cracking and surface crazing. The existing high water table is causing damage to the structure of the road south of the roundabout.

Traffic Management

Work will only be carried out overnight between the hours of 21-00pm and 06-00am in order to reduce disruption to the travelling public to a minimum. Traffic will be taken passed the work by either traffic lights or convoy running.
