The Project
This project was to stabilise a retaining wall at Monkton Combe and also stabilise a slope at Limpley Stoke, on the A36 south of Bath.
The improvements included:
- The stabilisation of both the slope at Limpley Stoke and the retaining wall at Monkton Combe, by creating two reinforced concrete piled walls;
- Installation of a new safety fence at Limpley Stoke;
- Resurfacing the A36 carriageway and applying an anti-skid material;
- Resurfacing the footway at Monkton Combe;
- Signage replacement, vegetation clearance and tree trimming
The scheme involved a 12 week closure of the A36 to through traffic, during which time agreed diversion routes were signed and in place and gatehouses were installed to re-direct through-traffic and advise drivers that the A36 was totally closed at Limpley Stoke.
Work was successfully completed on time and the road reopened on the 20th June.
