Markham Moor Junction Diversion Routes
Local Diversion
The following local diversion will be in place from Wednesday 20th August to Sunday 23rd November at Markham Moor junction.
This local diversion is required for roundabout and slip road construction.
Diversion to adjacent North Junction
The following diversion will be in place from Monday 1st September to Sunday 23rd November at Markham Moor junction.
Traffic needing to travel from the west (C87 Milton Road and B1164 Great North Road) to the east (A57 Cliff Gate and A638 Great North Road) of Markham Moor junction or South down the A1 will be diverted north along the A1 to the Dover Bottom B6387 (Gamston) junction. Diverted traffic will turn at this junction via the over bridge and then return south down the A1. Traffic for A57 Cliff Gate and A638 Great North Road will need to exit at the southbound off slip and follow the local diversion at Markham Moor junction. The diversion route will be fully signed. This diversion is required to enable construction of the main A1 carriageway through the existing roundabout.
Diversion to adjacent South Junction
The following local diversion will be in place from Monday 1st September to Sunday 23rd November at Markham Moor junction.
Traffic needing to travel from the east (A57 Cliff Gate and A638 Great North Road) to the west (C87 Milton Road and B1164 Great North Road) of Markham Moor junction or north along the A1 will be diverted south along the A57 Cliff Gate and Broad Gate to turn and travel along the A6075 Darlton Road and Lincoln Road to Tuxford.
High loads over 15ft 9” needing to travel north on the A1 will be diverted south down the A1 at Tuxford to turn at Carlton junction and return back north up the A1.
Vehicles less than 15ft 9” in height needing to traffic to C87 Milton Road and B1164 Great North Road or north on the A1 can travel under the A1 at the Tuxford under-bridge and will then be diverted north up the B1164 Great North Road to Markham Moor Junction via West Markham and Sibthorpe. The diversion route will be fully signed. This diversion is required to enable construction of the main A1 carriageway through the existing roundabout.
Carpenters Lodge Junction Diversion Route
Diversion for bridge deck move and installation
The following local diversion will be in place between 18:00hrs on Saturday 30th and 12:00hrs on Sunday 31st August.
This diversion enables the new bridge deck to be moved along the A1 main carriageway and installed on the new bridge abutments at Carpenters Lodge junction. The A1 will be closed at the junction. A1 traffic will be diverted along the A47 and A43 whilst the bridge deck is being installed.
