The Project
We will be carrying out footway resurfacing works adjacent to the A38 northbound carriageway between Church Road, Egginton and the A5132.
Work commenced on 21 January 2008 and will take place Monday to Thursday 9.30 to 15.00 hrs. Footway users will be directed along a safe route through the works area.
There will also be the option to do work on a Saturday and Sunday from 07:00 to 15:00hrs.
The work will last for approximately 9 weeks and will improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Traffic Management
Whilst the work is under way the A38 Northbound carriageway will be reduced to 1 lane and the following closures and diversions will be in place;-
Church Road, Egginton - Closure.
- There will be no access from Church Road, Egginton, onto the A38 northbound carriageway during the works. Access will be maintained from the A38 northbound carriageway into Church Road throughout the works.
A5132 northbound junction - Closure
- The A5132 junction with the A38 will be fully closed throughout the works. However, there will be access from the A5132 to the northbound service station.
A38 Northbound traffic wanting the A5132 - Diversion
- Traffic wishing to leave the A38 at A5132 junction will be diverted northwards to A50 interchange. The traffic will then be split
- Hilton traffic will be then diverted westward along the A50 to the A516 junction.
- Willington traffic will be then diverted around the A50 interchange to the B5008 and travel southwards along B5008 to Willington.
A5132 traffic wanting the A38 northbound - Diversion
- Traffic wishing to enter the A38 northbound carriageway will be diverted eastwards along the A5132 to Willington and then northwards along the B5008 to A50 interchange.
