The Project
Where
The advance direction signs are located on the east and westbound approaches to Junctions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, between Telford and Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.
When
Work started on 14 January 2007 and was completed on 19 March 2008.
Why are we doing this work?
These signs were being upgraded to ensure that all the M54 advance direction sign faces will show relevant off-motorway destinations.
Why do we need to do this work?
Advance direction sign faces were being upgraded as part of the Highways Agency's national strategy to reduce traffic delays and improve safety on motorways.
Because motorway drivers approaching junctions will be better informed about off-motorway destinations, lane discipline should be improved well in advance of junction exists and the risk of drivers making late manoeuvring decisions will be reduced.
