The Project

The A40 Denham Viaduct is located between J1 of the M40 and Swakely's Roundabout to the south in Uxbridge and carries the A40 over the River Fray and surrounding floodplains.

We are proposing to replace the existing brickwork parapets to bring them up to current  standards and strengthen the bridge deck from below to allow abnormal loads to use the A40 in both directions over the structure.

The existing 3 running lanes will be maintained for the duration, albeit with reduced lane widths and speed cameras will be used to enforce the 40mph mandatory speed limit through the extent of the works.

Innovative carbon fibre plate bonding techniques to strengthen the deck will be used, reducing construction waste and the duration of the works.

Strengthening of the deck will help eliminate congestion on the local diversion route currently caused by abnormal load  vehicles too heavy to use this section of the A40.
