The Project
This maintenance scheme involves carrying out essential repairs to the north and southbound carriageways of the A1 between Markham Moor and Carlton-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire. The work is being done to keep the carriageway surface in a safe condition prior to the commencement of a major maintenance scheme planned for later in the year.
The work will start on 14th February 2008 and will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am. It is expected to be completed by 17th February 2008.
There will be closure of the northbound A1 between A46 at Newark and A6075 at Tuxford. Closure of the southbound A1 between Markham Moor and Carlton-on-Trent. Closure of the slip road leading to the northbound A1 from B6114 at Carlton -on-Trent and closure of the slip road leading to southbound A1 from A6075 at Tuxford.
Traffic Management
A1 southbound will be closed at Markham Moor roundabout and all through traffic will be diverted at the Apleyhead junction onto the A614 to New Ollerton, the A616 south to the A46 at Newark rejoining the A1 at Newark.
A1 northbound will be closed at the exit slip to the B6166 at Newark and traffic will be diverted onto the A46 at Newark to the A46 Cattle Market roundabout, the A616 to New Ollerton and A614 rejoining the A1 at Apleyhead. Local access will be maintained for residents of North Muskham and Cromwell.
