The Project

We are applying  anti-skid surfacing on the exit-slips to help prevent  loss-control and rear end shunt types accidents. This surfacing will increase safety and reduce congestion caused by accidents.

There has been high number of accidents associated with loss of control and rear end shunts occurring on the exit slip roads both at the start and  where it meets a junction or traffic signals.

Work is due to start on 25 February 2008 and is scheduled for completion by 1 March 2008.

Traffic Management

To ensure the scheme is completed in the shortest time possible, with minimal distruption, the work will take place over five nights when traffic flows are at their lowest.

Working hours will be between 22:00 - 05:30 hours from Monday until Thursday night and between 23:00 - 07:00 hours for Friday night. During the nightime work, it is necessary to close the exit-slips to provide a safe environment for the road workers to carry out the improvements. A diversion route will be provided  for drivers, who will see signs in advance of the works.
