The Project
An emergency crossing point on the A1 near Newark has been installed by the Highways Agency. Work began on Wednesday 12th March and was completed on Friday 11th April 2008.
The crossing point is a gate on wheels, which provides an emergency crossover in the central reservation. This allows vehicles to cross onto the opposite carriageway if an incident blocks part of the A1, allowing motorists to continue their journey safely.
