The Project

We will be installing new acoustic barriers along both sides of the M3 between Junctions 3 and 4 (between the A325 Portsmouth Road roundabout and the existing privately-owned acoustic barrier south of the B3015 Maultway overbridge), near Frimley, Surrey.

Vegetation clearance and drainage work, in preparation for the construction work, began in late February. Construction of the barriers themselves is due to begin in late March, after the Easter break, and will be complete by the end of August 2008, weather permitting.

Traffic Management

Construction and, when necessary, maintenance of the barriers will be from Highways Agency land with works mostly be undertaken during the daytime. During the works, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be put into place on the M3 as necessary.
