The Project

The bridge is located over the M1, just south of J24, and carries a local road from the A453 to Kegworth.

Essential maintenance works was undertaken to the bridge deck in the form of new waterproofing, expansion joints and deck drainage improvements. The work will protect the bridge from further deterioration, prolonging its life. The worn road surfacing was also replaced to improve safety for road users.

Work began on Monday 03rd March 2008 and was completed on 11th April 2008.

A full road closure was used for the duration of the works, with a signed diversion route in place via M1 Junction 24. There was  a resultant small increase in journey times for those using the diversion route. However the chosen method of traffic management allowed  the works to be carried out safely and completed in the shortest possible time. Traffic using the M1 was not affected by the works.
