The Project
The Highways Agency commenced roadworks on the A50 at the Whittle Road connection and at the Grindley Lane junction near Stoke on Trent on Tuesday 25th March. The works are essential highway improvements required for building development being carried out in Whittle Road by Henry Boot Developments Ltd. The works will take 10 weeks to complete during which the Whittle Road connection to the A50 will be closed at all times. Access to Whittle Road will be via Lysander Road.
Works affecting the A50 will generally be carried out overnight when traffic flows are lightest. This will be between 8pm and 6am and will require westbound traffic to be reduced to a single lane with a 40mph speed limit through the works. There will also be a short period of overnight works affecting the eastbound carriageway. Every effort will be made to avoid disturbance to local residents during overnight works.
It is not expected that there will be any daytime delays on the A50 due to this work.
Works are scheduled to be ongoing until May 2008.
Traffic Management
- A 40 mph mandatory speed restriction will be implemented on the A50 only when overnight lane closures are in use.
Traffic management arrangements for week beginning Monday 19th May.
- Until scheme completion, 24 hrs – Whittle Rd closed at junction with A50 Westbound.
- Monday 19 May to Thursday 22 May, Night time ONLY – In addition to the above, the West Bound Lane 1 of the A50 will be closed at the junction, between 20:00 and 06:00hrs.
