The Project
This embankment along the A46 has been identified as needing work to ensure that the earthworks do not become loose and be dangerous to the travelling public. The area is situated approximately 10 kilometres southwest of M40 Junction 15 and approximately 2 kilometres north of Stratford-upon-Avon. The site is approximately 175 metres in length.
When will the work be carried out?
The works are due to start in September and will take 2 months to complete.
What are we doing?
The works consist of re-grading the slope, underpinning the earthworks with soil nails and covering the surface with a steel mesh to stabilise the middle and lower parts of the slope.
Traffic Management
The area currently benefits from a crawler lane. Over the duration of these two months the crawler lane will become a coned off working area – with the traffic changing lanes.
To ensure safety for our travelling public and the workforce there will be a 40 mph speed restriction past the works.
The Benefits
This work will prevent the embankment from further slippage providing a safe solution to a natural problem.
