The Project

Essential concrete repairs have now been completed to the underside of the existing pre-stressed deck beams and service bay area following collision damage at the interchange. The work was necessary to safeguard the structural integrity of the main bridge beams spanning the A500.

All work was carried out overnight when the traffic was less busy, to limit delays to road users. Short local diversion routes, via the interchange slip roads, were used when main carriageway closures were in place.

Work started on the 11 August 2008 and was substantially completed on the 21 August 2008, prior to the busy Bank Holiday period. One further overnight closure of the A500 at the interchange was required on 17/18 September, to enable finishing works to be carried out.
