The Project
Traffic management technology on the M42 has been upgraded between junction 9, Dunton Island and junction 11, Appleby Magna Interchange. The work took place in phases and involved the construction of new gantries for variable message signs, a traffic detection system and CCTV.
This work will improve safety and tackle congestion by warning drivers of any hazards on the road ahead. The work began in December 2008 and the infrastructure construction was completed in Summer 2009.
The Installation & Commissioning of the remaining Variable Message Signs & CCTV is due for completion in late 2011.
