M25 Berry Lane Viaduct
Construction Works
The Highways Agency is carrying out construction works on the Berry Lane Viaduct.
Site clearance will include thinning out young trees adjacent to the viaduct. Mature trees at the edge of the working area will be retained if it is safe to do so. We will replant disturbed areas as soon as possible after completion.
Concrete piles will be installed in the area of the Viaduct and then load tested to check that the pile design performs in accordance with our designer's assumptions. We will use a conventional piling rig to drill the test piles from existing ground level. This method causes negligible vibration and noise.
Traffic Management
We will erect warning notices in advance of any temporary closures and suggest diversion routes along with advanced warning of any temporary traffic light installation to allow you to plan your journeys.
We do not expect to restrict residential traffic movement but, should this become necessary, we will give you advance notice.
Construction Traffic Restrictions
No entry to construction traffic along Dog Kennel Lane, Park Avenue and Chestnut Avenue, Valley Road east of The Clump or from Berry Lane itself south of the railway line, throughout the construction works.
Construction traffic will use only the A404 Chorleywood Road, The Clump and Valley Road.
The Highways Agency has agreed these restrictions with Hertfordshire County Council Highways Department.
