Where was the project located?
The project was located near to M6 Junction 2 on the A46 adjacent to the entrance to the new Ansty Business Park.
Why was the scheme needed?
The scheme was needed to provide an access to Ansty Business Park and to provide additional capacity due to the ongoing development of the Business Park.
What work was carried out?
The work entailed the removal of the twin island arrangement either side of the A46/M69 overbridge and installing traffic signal controlled junctions.
How did this benefit road users?
The capacity of the road network in this area has been increased which should mean that there will be a reduction in delays and congestion. These improvements should continue even though the occupancy of the Business Park increases over time.
In addition to the installation of traffic signals, improvements have been made to road signing and markings, street lighting and pedestrian and cycle routes have been provided around the junction that provide for improved access to Ansty Business Park.
