Update

The Spending Review announcement outlined that the M60 J15-12 Lane Gain scheme will be prepared for start of construction by 2015, subject to the outcome of statutory processes. For more information please visit our Future Delivery Programme page.

The Project

The scheme is to provide an additional lane within the current highway boundaries to the M60 in the anticlockwise direction between Junctions 15 and 12.

The additional lane between these junctions will create additional capacity and rectify the bottlenecks between Junctions 15 and 13 (3 lanes instead of 4) and Junction 12 (2 lanes instead of 3).

The proximity of Junction 13 to Junction 12 is a concern in terms of weaving and therefore safety. Creating an additional lane will help to reduce weaving and improve safety.

Further details can be found in the Timetable page.A PDF showing the location of the scheme is available in the Contact Information and Map page.

Public Information Exhibition

The Public Information Exhibition held on the 19th-21st March 2009 was carried out to solicit the views of the general public prior to conducting any detailed design. The comments received are being used to find design solutions that minimise the impacts of the scheme on local properties.

We plan to hold another public information exhibition in 2012, once we have completed the assessments and developed a preliminary design.
