Public Consultation

M20 Junctions 4 - 7 Controlled Motorways Public Consultation Response Report

In 2009, the Agency conducted a public consultation on the proposed introduction of Mandatory Variable Speed Limits as part of the Controlled Motorway scheme on the M20 between junctions 4 and 7. The consultation started on 5 May 2009 and ended on 28 July 2009.

You can access the Agency's formal response to the consultation by downloading the pdf document below:

A copy of the report was sent to those stakeholders who received the consultation paper, and to those members of public and other organisations who responded to the consultation through the Agency's website.

M20 Junctions 4 - 7 Controlled Motorways Public Consultation

This consultation provided an opportunity for interested parties and individuals to comment on the proposal to introduce variable mandatory speed limits on the M20 between junctions 4 and 7.

Secondary legislation in the form of regulations made under section 17 of the Road traffic Regulation Act 1984 were required to implement the Controlled Motorway Scheme.  The regulations restrict drivers from driving at a speed exceeding that displayed on the speed limit signs or the national speed limit where no other speed limit sign is displayed.

The full consultation pack included the consultation document together with appendices for the Impact Assessment, consultation response form and list of consultees.

If you have an interest in this public consultation, each of the above documents can be accessed below.  However, as the public consultation is now closed, it is now not possible to comment on the introduction of variable mandatory speed limits on the M20 between junctions 4 and 7.
