A47 East Winch to West Bilney Resurfacing Scheme
A47 East Winch to West Bilney Resurfacing Scheme
The Project
Resurfacing work on a 1.9 mile (3km) length of the A47 between East Winch and West Bilney in Norfolk was completed on 23 December 2009.
Why was the work necessary?
The new surface will provide improved skidding resistance. The noise reducing asphalt will ensure the surface remains in good condition for many years to come.
In addition, highway drainage, road markings and road studs have been replaced and two lay-bys to the east of West Bilney have been upgraded with new footways with dropped kerbs to help wheelchair users.
Also, new footways have been provided near the disused service station n West Bilney to connect with the existing footpaths and bridleway. A crossing point has been provided with dropped kerbs and tactile paving to aid both able and less able pedestrians.
How much did the scheme cost?
Approximately £1.2 million
How will this work benefit me?
The road surface will provide a quieter smoother journey and nearby residents will benefit from the noise reducing surfacing.
