The Project
In order to reduce congestion and improve road safety, we widened the north and southbound exit slip roads, implementing a right-turn ban from the M6 onto the east and westbound A580 East Lancashire Road and upgraded the street lighting, safety barriers and road markings.
We also reduced the speed limit through and around the A580 roundabout to 40 mph to accord with the local 40 mph limit introduced concurrently on the A580 by St. Helens Metropolitan Borough Council.
The works were completed in April 2010.
