The Project
In July 2005, the Carland Cross to Chiverton Cross Improvement was referred to the South West Regional Assembly for consideration in the advice to Department for Transport on Regional Funding Allocations.
The South West region submitted their advice on transport priorities assuming indicative funding allocations for the next ten years. Their advice was that the Carland Cross to Chiverton Cross Improvement, when weighed against other priorities in the region, be placed in the category of longer-term schemes for delivery outside the first regional funding allocation period.
In 2008 the Government asked the Region to reassess its priorities for a second Regional Funding Allocation round covering a period up to 2019. The revised advice submitted to Ministers was unable to prioritise funding for the Carland Cross to Chiverton Cross Improvement.
Ministers have now generally accepted the Region' s advice and as such route protection for the scheme has been withdrawn.
