The Project
The Early Contractor Involvement design and build contract was awarded to Alfred McAlpine in July 2002 and work started on site in July 2005, following a public inquiry held in early 2004.
The main construction works have been completed and the road formally opened to traffic on 11 July 2007.
The new A30 consists of 11.57km (7 mile) stretch of new dual carriageway. Nine bridges and underpasses have been constructed to carry side roads and accesses over/under the new road. New two-level junctions at Victoria and Innis Downs allow the free movement of traffic to and from the local road network at these locations. A total of six lay-bys have been provided.
