The Project

These works involved the essential maintenance of the M5 Jct 21 - 22 including the resurfacing of 1.7 km of worn out carriageway with thin wearing course. In addition to the surfacing works there was associated improvements to the existing drainage and safety fencing in the central reserve and verges and re-profiling of the hard shoulder on the southbound carriageway beneath the Banwell Road overbridge to improve the height clearance.

This resurfacing scheme, which started early April 2005 and was completed early June 2005, helped to improve ride quality and safety for the travelling public, whilst ensuring that the structural integrity of the road surface is maintained and protected.
