The Project

The M5 Junctions 11 - 11A Northbound resurfacing scheme has improved ride quality and safety for the travelling public and reduced road noise for local residents near Gloucester. The scheme will also reduce future disruption and delays caused by the existing reactive emergency response method of dealing with surfacing issues.

These essential maintenance works involved the resurfacing of 2.5 km of worn out carriageway, the replacement of safety barriers in the central reserve and minor drainage works.

Works started on Monday 11th April 2005 and were expected to last for 14 weeks. There was a complete closure of the northbound carriageway during the main body of the works with a contraflow system in place on the southbound carriageway. Individual lane closures were in place for ancillary works.
