The Project

The M5 Junctions 23 to 24 Northbound Resurfacing scheme will help to improve ride quality and safety for the travelling public and reduce road noise for local residents near Bridgwater, Somerset. The scheme will also reduce future disruption and delays caused by the existing reactive emergency response method of dealing with surfacing issues.

These essential maintenance works involve the resurfacing of 3.6 km of worn out carriageway with thin wearing course and relining, the replacement of safety barriers in the central reserve and minor drainage works.

Works will start on Monday 7 February 2005 and are expected to last for five weeks. There will be a complete closure of the northbound carriageway during the main body of the works with a contraflow system in place on the southbound carriageway. Individual lane closures will be in place for ancillary works.
