The Project

This is a safety project on the M4 between Junctions 15 and 16 on the westbound carriageway, which started on Monday 17 January 2005. The work is programmed to be completed by 24 March 2005.

The work involves stabilising the embankment by regrading the slopes, installing new drainage and replacing safety barriers. The work will be carried out at three locations within a total length of 1.5 kilometres.

Traffic management measures will be present throughout the works. The westbound hardshoulder and lane one will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the duration of the works. Lanes two and three will remain open to road users. Contractors will be working seven days a week during daylight conditions. There will be a 50mph temporary speed restriction for the duration of the scheme with safety cameras in operation. The eastbound carriageway will be unaffected. Moderate delays are expected during peak travel times and road users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
