The Project
This is one of the road projects managed by the Highways Agency, the executive agency of the Department for Transport responsible for operating, maintaining and improving England's strategic road network. More specific information about this project will appear here when it becomes available. The HA's network is the single biggest Government asset, valued at over £62 billion and comprising some 9,380km or 5,863 miles of motorways and trunk roads. It carries a third of all road traffic in England and two-thirds of all freight traffic. More than 170 billion kilometres of journeys are undertaken each year. The network provides a vital service to commerce and industry and has a huge impact on the lives of individuals and communities.
