The Project
A scheme to upgrade the cable network on the M27 between junctions 4 and 9, using the latest technology available, was completed in September 2005.
This included the installation of an incident detection facility which is able to detect queuing traffic and automatically activate signals to warn approaching drivers of the hazard.
New variable message signs, CCTV cameras and new emergency telephones were also provided.
