The Project

The communications network on the motorway is being upgraded. This scheme started in August 2004 and is programmed to be completed by May 2005.

Most of the works are taking place during the day on the motorway verge. However, to connect equipment installed in the motorway central reserve, slots have to be cut in the carriageways.

Slot cutting work is noisy and is likely to be heard by those living close to the motorway. The sites where slot cutting will take place are approximately 500 metres apart. The work is weather dependent, but in good conditions we anticipate it will take one night to complete each site. Therefore, any disturbance should be limited to a short period.
