The Project

The A3 Thursley Junction Improvements scheme was opened to traffic on Monday 6 December 2004, 3 months ahead of schedule, by the Highways Agency's Traffic Operations Director, Steve Williams. It marked the completion of 10 months of work on the £3.5 million improvement which included removing a number of surface level side road junctions and constructing a new bridge crossing the A3 with associated slip roads.

These junctions have had a poor safety record with 32 personal injuries between 1995 and 2000, involving vehicles turning or crossing the A3. In addition to improving road safety, the bridge provides a safe means for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians to cross the dual carriageway providing a valuable link between Thursley and Witley Commons and adjacent villages.

The project team would like to extend their thanks to the local community for their co-operation and understanding throughout the works.
