Noise

Noise from roads, whether from traffic or construction, is perhaps one of the more noticeable environmental impacts concerning people these days. Considerable effort has been put into the design of these road improvements on the A43 to reduce noise and its effects.

Measures to reduce noise include:

• Realigning the route away from properties where possible
• Keeping the new road at a low level and/or placing it in cuttings
• Providing earthmoving, landscaping and planting to screen the road and blend it into its surroundings
• The provision of low noise road surfacings
• Provision of sound insulation to certain properties considered adversely affected by traffic or construction noise.
