The Project
The works are due to commence on 18 October 2004 and will involve carriageway resurfacing between Broad Oak Lane to just west of Down Road, along with installation of a zebra crossing east of West Down Road. Additional work will involve the joining of existing footpaths between West Down Road and Chandler Road and drop kerbs for the pedestrian crossing east of Sutherland Avenue.
The benifits of this will be improved safety and reduced traffic noise, due to a smoother road surface.
Expected hours of work will be:
Just west of Down Road to just west of Sutherland Avenue - off-peak night-time hours between 19.30 and 05.00. (Noisy works to be completed by 23.00.)
Just west of Sutherland Avenue to just east of Broad Oak Lane - off-peak daytime hours between 09.30 and 16.00.
Road closures and diversion routes will be in place and parking restrictions whilst resurfacing.
