The Project

Works on the Embankment alongside the A2 at Boughton Hill, in Kent, started on Tuesday 5 October. The work on the one-mile southbound stretch between Brenley Corner (A2/M2 junction) and Boughton Hill, near Canterbury, will take about Seven weeks to complete. Work will be carried out during the day between 6:00 am and 6:30pm. Lane one of the southbound carriageway will be closed for the duration of the works, for the safety of drivers and the workforce. The installation and removal of the traffic management facilities at the start and end of the scheme will also require a complete closure of the carriageway, when a diversion route will be in place. Southbound traffic will be diverted via the A299, A2990 and A290, and A28 back to rejoin the A2 at Harbledown. The scheme is likely to be completed during the week commencing 29 November 2004.

Local traffic wishing to access Boughton will be diverted at Brenley corner on to Brenley Lane, South Street and Nine Ash Lane through to Boughton Village.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time or vary their journeys if possible.
