A2 Trunk Road (Coast Bound)/ Restrictions and slip road closures
There will be lane restrictions on the coast bound carriageway with traffic management from Wrotham Road Bridge (Tollgate Junction) to Thong Lane Bridge on the following nights:
- Monday 20th April 2009 (From 10.00 pm to 05.00 am).
- Tuesday 21st April 2009 (From 10.00 pm to 05.00 am).
- Wednesday 22nd April 2009 (From 10.00 pm to 05.00 am).
This work will affect the slip roads at Marling Cross Junction to and from the coast bound carriageway on the three consecutive nights of the 20th, 21st and 22nd of April. The work involves removal of temporary varioguard barrier and modification to lane markings between the Tollgate coastbound onslip and Cobham services. Once completed there will be four lanes on the A2 coast bound carriageway through Marling Cross Junction.
Further night time lane restrictions will follow on dates to be confirmed to complete minor white lining operations throughout the site.
Pedestrian and Cycle Rotes / New Landscaped Corridor and Linear Park
Works on the new landscaped corridor which has been constructed on the former trunk road to provide mitigation to adjacent residential areas and a new combined footway and cycleway are progressing well and nearing completion.
Between Marling Cross and Cobham (Shorne Park) the combined footway / cycle way has been maintained during the construction period. Work is close to completion on this section with no temporary restrictions or diversions in place. From Hall Road to Downs Road / Hog Lane the combined pedestrian / cycleway will be opened to the public on Thursday 9th April. It is anticipated that the last section between Downs Road / Hog Lane and Marling Cross junction will be opened to the public at the end of April 2009, linking with the two new footbridges spanning the improved A2 Trunk Road.
