The Project
The Highways Agency (HA) has widened the A2 to four lanes with hard shoulders in each direction between Pepperhill and Cobham junctions, this scheme fully opened to traffic in February 2009. The widening scheme was the second phase of the overall A2 Bean to Cobham scheme, the first phase Bean to Pepperhill, was completed in December 2004 (see A2 Bean to Cobham: Phase 1 page for more information).

Pedestrian and Cycle Rotes / New Landscaped Corridor and Linear Park
Works on the new landscaped corridor which has been constructed on the former trunk road to provide mitigation to adjacent residential areas and a new combined footway and cycleway was opened to traffic in April 2009. This will be taken over by Kent County Council in 2010. Between Marling Cross and Cobham (Shorne Park) the combined footway / cycle way was also opened to traffic in 2009.
