The Project
Work to refurbish the Holmesdale tunnel and improve junction 25 of the M25, began on 6 May 2006 and was completed three months early in September 2007.
The refurbishment works included the replacement of lighting, ventilation equipment, internal cladding, tunnel control systems, traffic monitoring and control systems, emergency phones, the improvement of drainage and the removal of the raised walkways.
The improvement works included widening the eastbound carriageway by one lane through junction 25 and also widening both carriageways to the east side of the junction and through the tunnel.
