4 Feb 2002 Start of Project:

Consultation letters were sent to all key stakeholders, local authorities, transport operating companies, environmental organisations, local parish councils, pressure groups and business representatives explaining the study and inviting them to give their views.
19 Apr 2002 Draft Route Management Strategy Internal Workshop:

An internal workshop was held on 19 April 2002 which set out our view of the route functions, route objectives and problems and the draft strategy at a workshop attended by the Managing Agents the Project Owner and the Project Sponsor in order to develop an initial Draft RMS.
N/A Break:

Following the workshop there was a break in the RMS process whilst the multi-modal studies were finalised and published. There are two studies whose findings will have an impact on this RMS, they are ORBIT covering transport around London and the London to South Midlands Multi-Modal Study. Following publication of the multi-modal studies (MMSs), RMS work restarted in April 2003. This report is an update of the Initial RMS, which takes account of the recommendations of the MMSs and will form the basis of the RMS Seminar.

16 Jun 2003 Route Management Strategy Seminar:

Representatives from key stakeholders and other organisations were invited to a Route Management Strategy Seminar where the RMS Study was introduced and a list of possible problems and solutions identified by the attendees. The seminar took into account the findings of the relevant multi-modal studies.
30 Jul 2003 Value Management Workshop:

The Value Management Workshop allowed stakeholders, local authorities and other key organisations to prioritise problems and solutions and identify action studies required to take improvements forward.
Jan 2004 Route Management Strategy:

Following the VM workshop, the Draft RMS was updated and presented as the Initial Route Management Strategy. The Initial RMS details the HA's policy objectives, functions and problems which together with a land use development control statement from the basis of the report for Public Consultation.
Feb to May 2005 Public Consultation:

A 12 week period of Public Consultation was carried from 21 February to 16 May. The consultation was to publicise the proposed Route Management Strategy and to encourage comments from members of the public.
Winter 2005/6 Publication of Final Route Management Strategy:

After taking into account comments received during the public consultation, a 10-year Route Management Strategy has been published.
