The Project

The Highways Agency carried out work to both carriageways of the A12 Kelvenden to Marks Tey, which was completed in December 2004.

The carriageways were resurfaced with quiet surfacing to reduce traffic noise and surface spray, and weak sections strengthened. Road drainage was improved by creating V-shaped channels at the edge of the carriageway with pollution control valves installed at the Domsey Brook Outfalls.

Two new lay-bys with separation islands to protect users from traffic replaced the existing poorly located lay-bys. All safety fencing was replaced to current standards.
