The Project
Essential maintenance to improve safety on the A1 between Carlton-on-Trent and North Muskham, near Newark, Nottingham was carried out between the beginning of October 2004 and was completed by the end of December 2004.
Both carriageways along the 1.2 mile (2km) section were reconstructed, one-metre wide hard strips was installed in the verge and the central reserve was rebuilt. The scheme also involved replacing drainage and safety fencing and resurfacing the north and southbound sliproads of Ossington Road junction.
